Job Description:

Madison College is recruiting a pool of qualified part-time candidates to teach courses for the Animation program. Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis for the 2024-2025 academic school year.

Organizational Function and Responsibilities:

To instruct adult students in Animation - Concept Development at the vocational, associate degree and college transfer credit levels. Instructors develop instructional strategies and curriculum as a regular part of their work, and are encouraged to serve on committees. Health and dental benefits are NOT provided.

This position reports to the Associate Dean - Business and Applied Arts.

Essential Duties:

The following duties are typically expected of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

1. Responsible for instruction in the Animation Program including but not limited to the following courses: Drawing Fundamentals, Design and Color 1, Intro to Animation, Intro to Digital 3D, Animation 2, Advanced Digital 3D, Animation Concepts 1, Level and Set Design, Animation 3, Advanced Animation Studio 1, Animation Concepts 2, Animation 4, Animation Internship, Animation Portfolio and Advanced Animation Studio 2.
2. Plan, develop and implement appropriate instructional and alternative delivery strategies, including but not limited to, Interactive Television and on-line course delivery.
3. Instruct students in classes and participate in college service activities as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
4. Assist and advise students who have problems with assignments, tests, grades, course content, career concerns, and other academic matters.
5. Evaluate student performance in courses taught by the instructor.
6. Actively work with other personnel in student recruitment, retention and job placement.
7. Develop and maintain curriculum in collaboration with department/division staff.
8. Participate in instructional and curriculum articulation activities with other programs and other divisions of instruction.
9. Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, maintaining office hours for student assistance and counseling, etc.
10. Assist students in developing work experience assignments such as internships, work study assignments, team projects, etc.
11. Maintain certification as an instructor with the Wisconsin Technical College System. Comply with all aspects of Board policies, work rules, and the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies, including learner-centered instruction, assessment, evaluation and collaborative techniques and strategies that address closing the gap in student access and achievement across race, gender and disability.
2. Knowledge of traditional and digital presentation and manipulation of graphic elements necessary for the acquisition of skills in Animation Concept Development.
3. Skill in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods.
4. Knowledge and ability to infuse multicultural perspectives into course content and delivery.
5. Skill in communications and human relations with populations having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds.
6. Skill in oral and written communications.
7. Ability to interact with business and industry to establish partnerships.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Animation or a related field.

2. Seven (7) years or 14,000 hours of related work experience.

OR

1. Associate's degree in Animation or a related field.

2. Eight (8) years or 16,000 hours of related work experience.

3. Five (5) credited shipped titles (game or film).

Special Instructions to Applicants:

Madison College utilizes pool postings for all PT Instructor positions at the College. You will be considered as a POTENTIAL candidate who could possibly fill a position if/when the need arises. By posting these positions, there is no guarantee that Madison College will actually be hiring for this position. Part-time Instructors are hired on a per course basis each semester, and teaching one semester does not guarantee assignment for the following semester. The teaching hours for a part-time instructor vary and can include day, evening, and weekend classes.
